Glebe Cottage

Miss Aumonier with her students

For many years the School House was Glebe Cottage, which stood next to the Old School House, but was eventually demolished because of its dangerous state.

Miss C Aumonier came to Harlaston in the 1890s , where she lived in Glebe Cottage until it’s demolition ,  she then moved to the Black and White Manor House, Main Road, (when it was 3 separate flats),  She took up her duties as Headmistress of Harlaston C of E School and continued working there for 27  years.

She also associated herself in many village activities including being the secretary for the Nursing Association for 11 years, organised a girl’s club and became a member of the W.I. and Mother’s Union.

She died suddenly following a fatal accident at her home in 1946.
